Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist to review, analyze, and process moderately complex to complex claims within authority limits. You will decide on liability, assess damages, negotiate settlements, and manage a caseload of commercial property/casualty claims, including bodily injury or property loss.

You may assist the Claims Team Manager with assigning claims and mentoring team members.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate and negotiate with customers and conduct investigations required.
• Leadership ability and demonstrated time management skills to delegate work appropriately and organize resources effectively.
• Advanced knowledge of claims case handling practices, legal liability, general insurance policy coverage, and state tort laws.
• Required to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts investigations of claims to analyze and confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages; engages independent adjusters and experts as needed.
• Assesses policy coverage for submitted claims and notifies insured of issues; establishes and adjusts reserves.
• Assesses actual damages and negotiates settlements within authority limits.
• Coordinates litigation activities to ensure timely, cost-effective resolution; attends trials as company representative.
• Acts as senior technical professional, mentors and trains new team members, and participates in Quality Review.
• Participates in Suit Committees, Roundtables, Arbitrations, Mediations, field investigations and may assist in closed file reviews.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
