Job summary

Markel is seeking an experienced claims examiner for moderate to high complexity cases in the United States. The role covers coverage enquiry through liability assessment and quantum analysis, with emphasis on timely, cost-efficient resolution and stakeholder communication.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of claims handling, a valid adjuster license or eligibility, and strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license.
• Minimum of 5 years of claims handling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions.
• Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages.
• Delivers technical training to colleagues and external contacts as appropriate.
• Directs and monitors assignments to experts and outside counsel in moderate to high complexity claims.
• Negotiates and settles claims typically in litigation.
• Prepare coverage position letters and reports as required.
