Job summary

Markel seeks a Senior Claims Examiner in the United States to manage moderate-to-high complexity claims from coverage inquiry through liability assessment and quantum analysis. You will resolve matters timely, mitigate indemnity exposure, and communicate with stakeholders.

The role requires at least 7 years of claims handling, strong negotiation, and the ability to work with minimal oversight. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• JD, advanced degree, or focused technical degree a plus.

Responsibilities

• Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents.
• Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions.
• Prepares coverage position letters and refers to SIU if needed.
• Conducts and coordinates investigation into loss facts and damages.
• Directs and monitors assignments to experts and outside counsel.
• Negotiates and settles claims within authority.
• Presents at roundtables to senior claims leaders and underwriters on trials.
