Job summary

Leidos is seeking a licensed Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to lead design and review activities for substation projects. This is a senior role combining technical leadership, client engagement, and mentoring of junior engineers in a hybrid work environment.

The ideal candidate will have at least eight years in utility design, a PE license, and expertise with STAAD.Pro, RISA 3D, and AutoCAD/MicroStation. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight (8) years in utility consulting, design engineering, and technical reviews.
• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering required; MS preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Responsibilities

• Drive QA for civil/structural components of substation projects.
• Lead design reviews across steel and concrete structures, foundations, geotechnical systems, rigid bus, containment, and site packages.
• Oversee bid and construction package development, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule and budget.
• Act as lead engineer on client projects, providing technical oversight and ensuring deliverables exceed expectations.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
• Represent Leidos in client-facing engagements such as kick-offs and industry events.
• Conduct site visits to substation facilities to strengthen design and execution.
• Champion quality control and safe work practices, embedding compliance and reliability.
