Job summary

WSP seeks a Senior Civil/Geotechnical Engineer with mining experience to join our Mine Waste team in Tucson, AZ. Additional locations considered: Reno or Elko, NV. You will work with a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects.

You will lead civil design for tailings, heap leach facilities, and geotechnical analyses while managing projects, supervising junior staff, and developing client relationships. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5–7 years of post-education experience in engineering with geotechnical design experience.
• Professional Engineer registration.
• Experience with tailings management and heap leach facility design in mining.
• Solid knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
• Strong client liaison and business development skills.
• Project management experience for small to mid-size projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design of mine waste containment and heap leach facilities, including layout, site selection, and design drawings.
• Manage and execute geotechnical engineering projects, including field investigations and data interpretation.
• Perform complex geotechnical analyses focusing on soil mechanics, stability, seepage, and deposition modeling.
• Deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget with senior oversight.
• Support client relationships and business development activities.
