Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to join our US Mine Waste team in Tucson, AZ, with consideration for Tempe, AZ, Reno, NV or Elko, NV. You will lead civil design of mine waste containment and heap leach facilities, and work within a regional team on mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects.

You will manage projects, develop reports and designs, mentor junior engineers, and maintain client relationships while applying the latest geotechnical techniques and software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering required.
• 7–10 years of post-education engineering/geotechnical design experience.
• Professional engineer license required.
• Demonstrated tailings management and heap leach facility design experience; proficiency with common design software.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design of mine waste containment and heap leach facilities, including layout, site selection, geotechnical and hydrologic analyses, and construction drawings/specs.
• Manage diverse mine waste geotechnical projects: field investigations, lab testing, data interpretation, analyses.
• Direct complex geotechnical analyses: soil mechanics, stability, seepage, thermal modelling, deposition/runout analyses.
• Independently manage projects within client-approved scopes, delivering high-quality reports on time and budget.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and support business development.
• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Support proposals and design work packages; ensure QA/QC.
