Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Waste team in Tucson, AZ, with options for Reno or Elko, NV. Lead civil design of tailings, waste rock, and heap leach facilities, guiding geotechnical analyses and field programs for challenging mining projects.

You will manage projects, mentor junior engineers, support proposals, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or closely related field.
• 5–7 years of post-education experience in engineering with geotechnical design.
• Professional Engineer registration.
• Experience with tailings management and heap leach facility design in mining.
• Knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design of mine waste containment and heap leach facilities.
• Manage geotechnical field investigations, testing, and data interpretation.
• Direct complex geotechnical analyses including stability and seepage modeling.
• Deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget.
• Support client relationships and business development activities.
• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff.
• Contribute to proposals and design work packages as needed.
• Ensure QA/QC compliance and safe, ethical project execution.
