Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Civil/Geotechnical Engineer for our Mine Waste team in Tucson, AZ, with flexibility for Tempe, AZ; Reno, NV; or Elko, NV. Lead civil design for tailings, waste rock, and heap leach facilities and guide geotechnical analyses and field programs within a regional team.

You will manage projects, mentor junior engineers, and foster client relationships while delivering high-quality reports on schedule and budget. Travel may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or closely related field.
• 7–10 years of post-education geotechnical design experience.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• Experience with tailings and heap leach facility design in mining.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
• Proven client liaison and business development skills.
• Project management experience for small to mid-level projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design of mine waste containment and heap leach facilities.
• Manage geotechnical investigations, testing, and analyses.
• Direct complex geotechnical analyses and modelling.
• Deliver reports on time and within budget with QA/QC.
• Develop client relationships and new business opportunities.
• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and mentor juniors.
• Support proposals and design work packages.
