Job summary

GEI is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to add technical, project management, and business development expertise to our team. You will support our growing practice across mining, industrial, energy infrastructure, transportation, and buildings, with field work and travel as needed.

The role emphasizes leading proposals, client development, and mentoring staff while coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across North America.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; MS preferred.
• Professional Engineer, or path to PE license, is required.
• 5-15 years of experience in civil or geotechnical engineering; PM experience including proposals and budgeting; knowledge of regulations; proven business development skills.
• Seller-doer with strong regional connections and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil/geotechnical design, permitting, and construction for tailings basins, landfills, and CCR facilities.
• Support development of new and existing clients and cross-sell GEI’s services to growth of GEI’s Minnesota offices.
• Lead proposal teams and presentations.
• Lead multi-disciplinary, multi-geographic project teams.
• Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through client contact and industry events.
• Manage projects and staff, including technical leadership, risk management, and mentoring.
• Assist in recruiting and training additional staff.
• This position has a field component; travel and some overnight travel are required.
