Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc is seeking a practical Civil/Environmental/Geotechnical Engineer with a strong interest in civil construction. The role involves outdoor fieldwork, travel to project sites, and supporting large design and permitting projects in solid waste, environmental remediation, dredging, and ground improvement.

The candidate will work under a Senior Engineer to prepare engineering design and permitting documents, perform subsurface exploration, testing, and geotechnical analyses, and

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical, Geological, or Biosystems Engineering; M.S. preferred.
• 0-4 years if relevant engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure with appropriate experience.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with CAD, Civil 3D, and GIS software is a plus.
• Willingness and ability to travel, including short‑term out‑of‑town assignments, and to perform fieldwork and construction oversight.

Responsibilities

• Documentation on a wide range of engineering, construction, and environmental projects, working closely with engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Support the preparation of decision‑making documents (e.g., remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and cost estimates), design and procurement documents (e.g., engineering drawings and specifications), and tools for contractor bid evaluation and construction oversight.
• Assist with site investigations and assessments, including subsurface exploration and testing, environmental sampling, and technical oversight of subcontractors.
• Collect and document geotechnical and environmental field data in accordance with project requirements.
• Support data management, geotechnical analyses, and technical report preparation, and assist with presentations and proposals for clients and regulatory agencies.
• Travel to project sites as needed, including short‑term out‑of‑town assignments, and perform fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
