Job summary

Joseph Michaels International in Nashville, TN is seeking an experienced Civil Preconstruction Estimator to lead our preconstruction department. You will analyze drawings and specs to prepare cost estimates and guide the bid process for civil projects, coordinating subcontractor quotes and providing value engineering recommendations.

The role requires 3+ years in civil estimation, proficiency with Bid-To-Win, HeavyBid, AutoCAD, AGTEK and Excel, and strong communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as an estimator in civil construction.
• Proven track record estimating a range of civil projects (excavation, sitework, utilities).
• Proficient in Bid-To-Win, HeavyBid, AutoCAD, AGTEK, Excel.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Eye for detail is absolutely essential.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Orchestrate estimating & bid processes for civil projects.
• Identify labor, materials, and time requirements by studying proposals and plans.
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Prepare bid packages and present estimates to senior management.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary.
• Provide value engineering recommendations.
• Maintain historical cost data and develop estimating templates and tools.
