Job summary

Joseph Michaels International in Nashville, TN seeks a Senior Civil Estimator to lead our Civil Precon Department. You will oversee, approve and present cost estimates for paving projects, driving winning bids and ensuring on-time submissions.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of civil estimating experience, proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam and estimating software, and strong communication to mentor junior staff and coordinate with clients and suppliers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an estimator in the civil industry.
• Proven track record of estimating a range of civil projects (excavation, paving, grading, etc).
• Proficient in necessary software including Excel, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, Bid-To-Win, AGTEK.
• Excellent communication, client/business development and negotiation abilities.
• Sense of Urgency on submitting complete bids (on time).

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Lead bid processes for public and private sector projects.
• Identify labor, materials, and time requirements by studying proposals and plans.
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Prepare bid packages and present final estimates to senior management.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary.
• Provide value engineering recommendations.
• Maintain historical cost data and develop estimating templates and tools.
• Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvements.
