Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer / Project Technical Leader to lead water‑related projects for a diverse client base on the West Coast. You will guide multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists, oversee design work for water and wastewater systems, and collaborate with sales to respond to RFPs.

The role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of water infrastructure, and the ability to mentor junior staff while maintaining high-quality client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering; PE license.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve basic to highly complex engineering designs for conveyance systems, hydraulics, hydrology, water distribution and wastewater facilities.
• Ensure all project designs comply with state and local regulations.
• Apply firm policies, procedures, and best practices across all engineering deliverables.
• Conduct site visits and technical studies to verify design requirements.
• Prepare and present technical papers, abstracts, and conference presentations.
• Collaborate with sales and client service teams to prepare proposals in response to RFPs.
• Meet with clients to understand evolving design and project needs.
• Represent CDM Smith at conferences to foster client relationships.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior staff.
