Job summary

GHD in the US East region seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the planning, design and construction engineering of water, wastewater, utilities and infrastructure projects for municipal and private clients, with emphasis on linear infrastructure and site development.

Based in Chantilly or any US East office, you will collaborate with international teams in a hybrid model, travel to project sites as needed, and apply modeling, inspections and design standards to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
• At least 6 years of linear infrastructure design experience (water/wastewater/utility/infrastructure).
• Modeling capabilities relevant to infrastructure design and assessment.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Client & Customer Management: Manage relationships with small clients and assist senior colleagues with larger key clients.
• Community of Practice Management: Actively participate in a defined area of expertise or consulting to build own expertise.
• Engineering Inspections: Inspect and evaluate engineering works, outlining remedial actions to meet specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Engineering Solutions Design: Create engineering solutions and validation processes to meet design briefs, conforming to standards.
• Engineering Standards Specification: Analyze information, draft standards, and assess effectiveness within the discipline for internal and supplier use.
• Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow HSE policies to identify and mitigate risks in the workplace.
• Personal Capability Building: Develop capabilities through assessments, training, coaching, and ongoing education.
• Bid/Tender Response: Gather resources, prepare proposals, and fulfill deadlines for bids and tenders.
