As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation) with the Department of Transportation, you will guide important maintenance activities that keep local roads safe and dependable. This position leads maintenance operations by managing crews, planning work programs, and ensuring safe and effective roadway practices throughout an assigned region. As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation), you will perform the following duties:

• Maintenance Planning: Develop programs, estimates, and plans for surface treatment, patching, snow removal, bridge work, and other operations
• Crew Management: Supervise general and specialized crews and ensure proper training for safe and efficient work
• Agility Coordination: Promote and negotiate Agility agreements and maintain partnerships that support roadway needs
• Work Evaluation: Inspect projects, review conditions, and develop priority planning based on field observations and complaints
• Safety Leadership: Ensure proper traffic control setups, enforce safety procedures, and encourage proactive accident prevention
• Personnel Oversight: Handle performance reviews, scheduling, disciplinary actions, coaching, and problem resolution for assigned staff

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists;
• Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline;
• Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
