The Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation) position with the Department of Transportation offers an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to guide important environmental and engineering work. This position oversees environmental permitting, stormwater programs, and waste management activities that support transportation projects throughout the District. A Professional Engineer License is viewed as an asset and may enhance effectiveness in completing assigned tasks. As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation), you will perform the following duties:
- Environmental Oversight:Manage compliance with laws, regulations, and permit conditions across all assigned programs
- Program Management:Guide MS4, SEMP, and waste initiatives through planning, monitoring, and reporting
- Permit Coordination:Review, prepare, and evaluate environmental permits and supporting engineering documents
- Technical Review:Analyze Hydrology and Hydraulic reports and ensure consistency with permit requirements
- Field Evaluation:Conduct site assessments and coordinate corrective actions related to stormwater and waste activities
- Team Leadership:Supervise staff, assign tasks, and evaluate performance within the Environmental Unit

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allentown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
- Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
This position is not subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
