THE POSITION

Join the Department of Transportation as an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager and help support safe and reliable travel across Clearfield County. This role allows you to guide maintenance activities that keep roads and bridges in strong working condition. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees maintenance activities across an assigned area and supports planning, coordination, and evaluation of roadway and bridge work. It plays an important role in ensuring safe travel and effective county operations. As an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager, you will perform the following duties:

• Maintenance Planning: Develop programs, estimates, and plans for road and bridge maintenance and seasonal operations
• Crew Supervision: Oversee general and specialized crews performing maintenance activities and minor construction projects
• Project Coordination: Review requests for materials, personnel, and equipment and recommend appropriate actions
• Agility Agreements: Manage agreements with local partners and ensure services are exchanged fairly and effectively
• Emergency Management: Direct incident and emergency response activities for the assigned county area
• Work Evaluation: Conduct inspections, assess performance, and prepare reports and correspondence related to maintenance operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS), upon successful completion of probationary period.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent
