Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead site development projects in our Oak Ridge, TN office. You will direct planning, design, permitting, and execution across commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors.

The role requires a PE license, 8–12 years of civil engineering experience, and strong leadership and client coordination skills. You’ll mentor junior staff, manage multiple projects, and ensure compliance with regulations while delivering cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 8–12 years of civil engineering experience with a focus on site development.
• Must be able to show proof of US citizenship.
• Strong working knowledge of site development design practices, permitting, and construction processes.
• Experience with stormwater management design and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
• Proficiency with relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, HydroCAD, or similar).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and design of site development projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, erosion and sediment control, and roadway access.
• Prepare and review civil engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and standards.
• Provide quality control and technical oversight for work produced by junior engineers and designers.
• Manage multiple projects with scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, surveyors, structural engineers, contractors, and other consultants.
• Support permitting efforts and coordinate with local agencies and regulatory bodies.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers and CAD designers.
• Maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts.
