The City of Austin seeks a seasoned civil engineer to design, plan, and oversee construction, maintenance, and alteration of infrastructure. This role operates with substantial independence and contributes via advanced engineering analyses and coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and 8+ years of engineering experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas, or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Approves, processes, and seals plans and construction documents per standards.
• Manages highly complex engineering projects with high visibility.
• Develops preliminary and long-range plans, schedules, budgets, and estimates.
• Provides technical oversight from design through project completion.
• Develops cost estimates and feasibility reports for projects.
• Oversees preparation of contract documents and facilitates contractor coordination.
• Writes complex technical specifications for construction contracts.
• Reviews plans and permits for regulatory compliance.
