Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Chicago seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil design project teams across power, process, healthcare, and government facilities, directing design through construction while aligning with budget and client needs.

You will review drawings, prepare specifications, manage budgets, mentor engineers, and contribute to sales pursuits. PE license preferred and EPC project experience is valued; travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program with 7 years civil engineering experience.
• FE exam passed with 7 years civil engineering experience or equivalent.
• Master's degree in civil engineering with 6+ years of experience preferred.
• EPC project experience is preferred.
• PE license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Prepare civil equipment specifications, RFQs, and data sheets.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
• Quality review production drawings and ensure constructability and standards compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
