Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Chicago seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil design teams across a wide range of projects from concept to construction, ensuring designs meet budget and client needs.

You will prepare specifications, review vendor drawings, manage change orders, and mentor engineers while building strong client relationships. PE license is preferred; travel up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree with 7 years of civil experience.
• Optionally FE exam completed with PE preferred.
• Master's degree is a plus and EPC project experience preferred.
• Strong software skills in AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D.
• Ability to lead discipline design for large projects and mentor staff.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design from concept to design completion for diverse projects.
• Prepare specifications, RFQs, bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients, and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedule, scope, budgets, and staffing plans.
• Manage change orders and ensure QA/QC across drawings.
• Mentor engineers and lead client communications and presentations.
• Support business development and cost proposals.
