Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Data Center group in the United States. The role involves leading civil design for land/site development, performing earthwork and drainage analyses, and conducting technical due diligence for prospective sites.

You will collaborate with architects, energy and power, water, environmental, permitting, and real estate teams to deliver comprehensive site assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE license or ability to obtain one.
• 15+ years of engineering experience in site development and industrial projects.
• Experience with large data center or manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead site development and master planning for large data center facilities.
• Lead technical due diligence efforts for greenfield and brownfield development opportunities.
• Perform site feasibility assessments related to grading, drainage, utilities, transportation access, permitting, environmental constraints, and constructability.
• Evaluate potential development risks, opportunities, and fatal flaws for prospective sites.
• Support clients through site acquisition, investment, and development decision‑making processes.
• Coordinate infrastructure assessments including water, wastewater, stormwater, electrical, telecoms, and transportation systems.
• Document AHJ requirements and lead conversations with local authorities; develop permitting packages.
• Prepare due diligence reports, technical memos, risk assessments, and executive recommendations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary due diligence teams across civil, architectural, energy, water, environmental, geotechnical, and permitting disciplines.
