Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a Sr. Chassis Test & Development Test Planning Engineer at our California Proving Ground.

You will plan and coordinate CTD-led development activities, manage a test fleet, and ensure a structured testing regime across on-site and off-site venues. Ideal candidates have 7+ years in automotive engineering, a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and strong project planning, data analysis, and presentation skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant engineering experience in the automotive industry.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Understanding of vehicle dynamics, NVH, braking, and powertrain systems.
• Proficiency in planning, executing, and monitoring projects.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Excellent written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Test planning and coordination for CTD-led development activities, including prototype evaluations and on-site/off-site tests.
• Coordinate seasonal testing (e.g., Summer in Death Valley, Winter in Minnesota).
• Manage test vehicle fleet throughout the lifecycle: shipment, check-in, inventory, disposal.
• Track vehicle registrations and renewals, including license plates management.
• Track fixed assets such as test equipment, sensors, data loggers, tools.
• Support development garage technician management and workload analysis.
• Coordinate vehicle test usage between teams and manage testing priorities.
• Facilitate competitor vehicle purchases and rentals; interface with Hyundai/Kia affiliates; present technical reports.
