Job summary

BKF Engineers seeks an Environmental Project Manager to lead CEQA/NEPA projects and expand services throughout California. The role supports remote work with in-office time when needed, or a hybrid schedule between California offices and home.

You will lead environmental planning teams, drive project portfolios, and supervise staff while engaging with clients and stakeholders to advance planning initiatives and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field as required.
• Master's degree in related field preferred.
• AICP certification desirable for CEQA/NEPA leadership.
• Minimum 10 years in progressive leadership roles with oversight of planning and environmental teams.
• Experience leading CEQA/NEPA projects in California for land development, government, transportation, water, energy, housing, or higher education.

Responsibilities

• Lead Environmental Planning team to grow California market share.
• Build and nurture client relationships to grow pipeline and backlog.
• Oversee CEQA/NEPA document preparation and related studies.
• Guide environmental staff in technical, management, and client service skills.
• Coordinate multi-agency planning efforts and complex environmental projects.
• Mentor and develop staff; ensure high-quality proposals and work products.
