Job summary

Volkert Inc. in Atlanta, GA is seeking experienced CEI Inspectors to support our Southeast Region. You will perform roadway and bridge construction inspections, materials testing, and documentation to ensure compliance with plans and specs.

Responsibilities include field measurements, reporting, and coordinating with the Project Administrator to maintain quality and progress. A High School Diploma and GDOT certifications are required, with some roles offering leadership of junior inspectors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in construction inspection, one year in bridge/roadway construction.
• Engineer Intern with a Civil Engineering Degree.
• Knowledge of GDOT specifications and standards and typical practices for highway construction.
• Ability to read and comprehend roadway construction plans.
• Certifications: GDOT F/CON, GDOT WECS, GSWCC Level 1A, Advanced Traffic Control.

Responsibilities

• Making and checking construction related computations.
• Inspecting construction work and monitoring on-site activity.
• Conducting field tests, sampling materials, and verifying completed work meets plans, specs, and standards.
• Writing daily inspection reports, performing verification testing, and documenting test results and observations.
• Assisting in all types of record keeping and field measurements, as needed.
• Work is performed under the general supervision of the Project Administrator.
