Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living at Salisbury is seeking a Registered Medication Associate (RMA) to provide high-quality, individualized care in accordance with state standards. The role includes assisting with medication administration, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring resident safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must have successfully completed coursework and examinations to obtain certification as a Resident Care Associate.
• The RMA must obtain continuing education credits as required by the state to maintain certification and provide evidence timely.
• The RMA must possess knowledge of safe medication administration techniques and demonstrate this knowledge through a competency skills evaluation.
• CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain as per company policy.
• The RMA must understand and practice resident confidentiality.
• Must be able to work weekends and flexible hours as needed for resident care and services.
• Must show sincere compassion and demonstrate concern for seniors and their families.
• Proficient in basic office equipment for job performance.

Responsibilities

• Assists in monitoring and safe delivery of the Medication Management Program.
• Adheres to established policies and procedures when administering medications.
• Administers and records medication administration as prescribed by the physician.
• Presents medication to residents and observes ingestion or other administration methods.
• Observes and reports adverse actions or side effects and coordinates with the Resident Care Director.
• Determines and records effectiveness of medications in a timely manner.
• Documents refusals of medications and reasons for non-administration.
• Stores medications safely and accurately.
• Monitors medication accountability from order to administration and shift change.
• Documents updates in the Daily Shift communication log.
• Counts and reports discrepancies with controlled substances to the Resident Care Director.
• Inspects and maintains equipment and supplies for resident safety and reports issues.
• Obtains and records vital signs as indicated during medication administration.
• Records and restocks medication inventories and re-orders as needed.
