Job summary

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is seeking a Building Maintenance Lead to oversee and maintain our downtown campus infrastructure. The role focuses on safe, reliable operation of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural systems, with emphasis on preventative maintenance and project support.

The Lead will diagnose complex equipment issues, interpret blueprints, and mentor maintenance staff while ensuring compliance with safety standards and college guidelines. Full-time position.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance repair across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems.
• High School or G.E.D. diploma required; driver's license required.
• 4+ years of building maintenance experience preferred (commercial/industrial).
• Journeyman Electrical, HVAC, or Plumbing license highly recommended; leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, repair, testing, and installation of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems.
• Support preventive maintenance activities and campus projects.
• Participate in after-hours call-back and emergency tasks as needed.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and campus drawings; maintain maintenance records.
• Serve as technical resource within Facilities Department and ensure safety standards.
