Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. The Building Maintenance Lead is responsible for helping maintain a safe, reliable, and efficient infrastructure system at the Reynolds Downtown Campus. This position promotes a safe work environment by demonstrating best maintenance practices, supporting compliance with safety standards, and serving as a technical resource for the maintenance team.
The Lead performs advanced maintenance work involving the inspection, repair, troubleshooting, testing, replacement, and installation of electrical, plumbing, HVAC , mechanical, and structural systems. The position assists with complex repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and campus projects while helping ensure that maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards.
The Building Maintenance Lead participates in the call-back program and assists with after-hours tasks when needed.
The position requires proficiency in utilizing campus software systems, email communication, Microsoft applications, and other College-supported technologies. The Lead must be capable of diagnosing complex equipment Issues, identifying appropriate corrective actions, and supporting the implementation of maintenance solutions.
The role also requires the ability to interpret both paper and digital blueprints, drawings schematics, diagrams, one-line diagrams, dimensions, and related technical documents. The Lead assists with maintaining records associated with inspections, preventive maintenance, compliance activities, and campus infrastructure. The position serves as a technical resource by sharing knowledge, assisting with difficult maintenance issues, and supporting the efficient operation of the Facilities Department in accordance with departmental, College, and state guidelines.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Applies appropriate knowledge and skills involved In all major to minor aspects of building maintenance repair, or replacement of building systems per vendors’ instructions/manuals, standards and practices within the trade, codes and/or supervisor’s instructions.
High School or G.E.D. diploma required. Driver’s license required.
4+ years of building maintenance experience preferred. 4+ years of commercial or industrial experience preferred.
Journeyman Electrical, HVAC , or Plumbing license is highly recommended. t + years of leadership recommended.
