Job summary

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College seeks a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to lead on-site grounds care across multiple campuses. You will manage staff, plan maintenance schedules, and ensure safe, attractive landscapes in alignment with state regulations.

The role requires hands-on leadership in turf and landscape maintenance, equipment oversight, and coordination with facilities. A strong background in horticulture or grounds management is essential.

Qualifications

• Applies knowledge in landscaping equipment, grounds maintenance, turf maintenance, and supervision.
• Familiar with State Storm Water regulatory requirements.
• Strong background or training in grounds maintenance or horticulture.
• Experience in campus landscaping operations and groundskeeping techniques.
• Experience with chemical applications and grounds equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee comprehensive maintenance, preservation, and safety of campus grounds across Reynolds campuses.
• Recruit, train, and supervise grounds maintenance staff; ensure professional standards.
• Develop and implement landscape zoning and maintenance schedules; supervise daily operations.
• Inspect grounds, identify maintenance needs, and coordinate equipment and vehicle maintenance.
• Manage supplies and services within budget; follow state procurement rules (eVA, SWAM).
• Support facilities with landscaping projects across college sites; report to Facilities Manager.
• Serve as Essential Personnel and coordinate responses during emergencies and inclement weather.
