Job summary

Origin Bank is seeking an experienced Underwriter in Texas to evaluate loan applications up to $3 million, analyze income and debt, and determine repayment ability in line with bank policies and regulatory requirements.

You will prepare cash flow analyses, collateral valuations, and provide clear decisioning support while collaborating with lenders and risk teams. A four-year degree and 5+ years underwriting experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field.
• Minimum five years' underwriting experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements and reports.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of lending policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates loan applications up to $3 million for business purposes.
• Analyzes income and debt to determine Debt Service Coverage ratios.
• Spreads and analyzes financial statements and tax returns.
• Prepares cash flows, global cash flows, and collateral valuations.
• Reviews financial data for larger and more complex credits.
• Decisions loan applications for approval, conditional approval, or denial.
• Provides written comments to support loan decisions for the file.
• Builds relationships with lenders and staff to support loan processing.
• Guides loan policy requirements and monitoring for new or existing requests.
• Focuses on underwriting larger/complex credits and risk assessment.
• Attends risk department meetings to stay current on risk considerations.
