Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking an experienced Business Requirements Analyst for a remote Federal program with the Veterans Affairs department. The role focuses on capturing, documenting, and managing software development requirements across Agile teams using ALM tools and SAFe practices.

You will work with business users, IT, and leadership to detail requirements, write user stories, and ensure traceability of requirements, tests, and risks throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Must have strong software development background with SAFe/Scaled Agile.
• Must communicate complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience conducting independent research to resolve complex questions.
• Advanced Excel skills and MS Office proficiency.
• Expertise with JIRA tools for requirements management.
• Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead capture of business requirements for software development teams.
• Document requirements in an ALM tool and manage them.
• Perform Agile requirement management for a product team.
• Analyze user needs to define functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements.
• Conduct user interviews and develop business process models.
• Gather and document requirements with stakeholders and customers.
• Elaborate user stories and decompose into backlog items with acceptance criteria.
• Use JIRA for requirements, testing, and defect management.
• Track system and business requirements and validate traceability.
• Coordinate with Systems Engineers to assess impact on solutions.
