Job summary

CBRE is seeking an Assistant Chief Building Engineer in Denver to monitor complex building systems, including plumbing, electrical, heating, and cooling. The role supports preventive maintenance and repairs across facilities to meet safety and performance standards.

You will lead work orders, coordinate with contractors, and drive energy efficiency while ensuring compliance with codes and CBRE policies. Strong leadership and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of related experience (or combination of experience and education).
• Additional certification in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC/refrigeration, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
• Meet physical requirements: stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, lifting 50 lbs+.
• Innovative mindset to develop methods beyond existing solutions.
• Ability to solve unique problems with broad business impact.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent organizational skills and strong numerical proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assign work orders and estimate time and materials for repairs; maintain inventory of supplies.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on advanced mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire/life safety, and control systems.
• Comply with codes, regulations, and safety directives.
• Develop an energy management program to optimize system efficiency.
• Oversee and inspect work by outside contractors; respond to inquiries.
• Lead preventive maintenance programs to meet or exceed equipment life.
• Review inspections of building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) for design compliance.
• Apply advanced knowledge to improve methods and processes.
• Demonstrate expertise and mentor others within the function.
• Lead by example and influence stakeholders at senior levels.
