Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Chief Building Engineer to lead complex preventive maintenance and repairs of building systems, equipment, and grounds. This role involves supervising engineering staff, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with safety and client requirements.

The candidate will plan preventive maintenance programs, train coworkers, and respond to emergencies while driving best practices across the facilities team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED/trade diploma with 5–8 years related experience.
• Willingness to work on-call.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead operations, assign work orders, and train coworkers and subcontractors.
• Plan preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Ensure building systems (HVAC, fire alarms, plumbing) operate within design specs.
• Oversee work quality and safety across engineering staff and contractors.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with teams as needed.
• Share best practices and mentor others to build expertise across Ce the function.
