Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield in New York is seeking a Union Operating Engineer to ensure reliable operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across assigned properties.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, monitor energy management, respond to emergencies, and uphold safety standards per NFPA and local codes. A high school diploma and 5+ years of related experience are required, plus relevant licenses.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Graduate of apprentice program or trade school preferred.
• 5+ years of related work experience in operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform all plumbing, electrical, or HVAC requirements of the building(s).
• Maintain heating equipment, chillers, DX units, pumps, and air distribution systems.
• Monitor energy management and adjust field conditions.
• Repair doors, ceilings, floors and general property installations.
• Inspect and ensure fire/life safety compliance per NFPA and local codes.
• Document activities and respond to emergencies and tenant concerns.
