Job summary

City of Los Banos is seeking a Building Official to plan, organize, and direct the Building Division operations, ensuring enforcement of federal, state, and local building codes and standards. The role oversees plan review, inspections, permit issuance, and staff development.

The candidate will provide technical guidance to the Community and Economic Development Director, coordinate cross-departmentally, and implement electronic permitting and performance metrics to improve service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Technology, Engineering, Architecture or related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, plan review, code enforcement or building code administration.
• Minimum three years of supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, manage, and direct the Building Division daily operations.
• Serve as Building Official for enforcement of Title 24 California Building Standards and related codes.
• Review and approve permit applications, plans, and calculations.
• Manage contract plan review and inspection services and coordinate with other departments.
• Develop division goals, budgets, and performance metrics.
• Oversee electronic permitting and records management systems.
• Provide staff leadership, training, and mentorship.
