Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Building Mechanical Engineer to lead design of mechanical systems for water and wastewater facilities in the Northwest region. You will plan, design and oversee plumbing, HVAC, odor control, and fire protection, coordinating with architects, vendors and clients to meet project needs.

You will guide calculations, equipment selection, and field evaluations while mentoring junior designers, delivering high‑quality, schedule‑driven outcomes in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years’ experience in producing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs and providing services during construction for design‑build projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Motivation, strong data analysis skills, technical problem‑solving ability, organizational skills, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, odor control, fire protection) on water/wastewater facilities.
• Prepare calculations for plumbing, HVAC, and related systems and perform energy/lifecycle analyses.
• Design and specify equipment, coordinate with vendors, and edit specifications.
• Develop master plans, conduct field investigations, and produce as‑built drawings.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders and manage quality and schedule.
• Support construction phase with submittals/RFIs and mentor junior staff.
