Job summary

Lincoln Property Company in Charlotte is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering team and oversee all building maintenance, repair, and operations to ensure a high level of tenant satisfaction, safety, and building efficiency.

The role requires managing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, supervising staff, coordinating with tenants and vendors, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and NFPA standards while driving energy management and capital projects.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• At least ten years of industry-related experience or commensurate certification/trade experience.
• At least five years of supervisory, training, and mentoring experience including developing and delivering performance appraisals.
• CFC Certification preferred or willingness to obtain; licenses required as per local/state/national requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, energy management software systems, CMMS, and other building platforms.
• Ability to travel daily to assigned properties as necessary.
• Advanced knowledge of HVAC, BAS, fire protection, and life safety systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, capital budgeting, and energy management skills/practices.
• Strong contract administration and project management skills.
• Familiar with blueprints and code requirements.
• Primary point of contact for building emergencies; after hours/work may be required.
• Ability to read/write English to understand manuals and write reports.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of building maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Monitor building energy usage and ensure efficient operations.
• Oversee contractor work and manage tenant improvement projects.
• Prepare budgets; control inventory and purchasing.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate Engineering staff; develop and implement performance goals and staff development plans.
• Collaborate with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure reliable building operations.
• Oversee safety protocols, compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA; manage lockout/tagout program.
• Conduct thorough inspections; maintain documentation and service logs for equipment and compliance.
• Communicate with teammates, leadership, vendors, tenants, and client employees professionally.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
