Job summary

City of Fort Worth seeks a Sr. Combination Inspector to perform complex inspections across industrial, commercial and residential sites, enforcing the City’s building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy, existing building and sign codes.

The role requires extensive knowledge of ICC standards, IECC, and zoning codes, with a strong focus on customer service and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED with specialized training in building construction.
• Three years of experience in building inspection or construction.
• Valid Texas driver's license at time of hire.
• ICC IECC certification within six months of employment.
• Texas Plumbing Inspector License within one year of employment.
• Three additional ICC licenses in three trades within 2.5 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex inspections on multiple permits ensuring work meets codes.
• Enforces ICC and city codes; issues notices and documents actions.
• Explains code requirements to architects, contractors and homeowners.
• Assists with minor compliance issues and construction projects.
• Inspects occupancy, use of construction materials and compliance.
• Interacts with customers face-to-face, over the phone or by email.
• Maintains files, reports and adheres to attendance policies.

Education

HS Diploma/GED with specialized training in building construction

Three years of experience in building inspection or construction

ICC IECC certification (commercial or residential inspector) within six months

Texas Plumbing Inspector License within one year

Three additional ICC licenses in three trades within 2.5 years
