Job summary

The City of The Colony is seeking a Building Inspector to review residential and commercial construction, interpret codes, and enforce building codes.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will conduct on-site inspections, review plans, coordinate with Planning, Fire, Public Works, and City Engineers, and issue permits and citations as needed.

Candidates must have Texas licenses, ICC Certifications, and five years of inspection experience; proficiency with CRW software is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must understand residential and commercial construction codes and plans.
• Experience with plan review and field inspections across building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trades.
• Familiarity with City ordinances and zoning requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate plan review with Planning, Fire, Public Works, and City Engineers.
• Conduct on-site inspections for compliance with building codes and zoning.
• Review building plans for ordinance and code compliance.
• Assist in issuing permits and processing related paperwork.
• Respond to complaints and assist enforcement officers as required.
