Job summary

City of The Colony is seeking an experienced Building Inspector to join the Engineering/Inspection team. You will manage plan reviews, interpret building codes, and perform on-site inspections for residential and commercial projects, ensuring compliance with city ordinances and state regulations.

The role requires extensive inspection experience, knowledge of CRW (TrakIt) and MS Office, and licensure/certifications in electrical, plumbing, energy, and plans examiner categories.

Qualifications

• Must have extensive working knowledge of residential and commercial building construction and codes.
• Comfort with conducting on-site inspections and interpreting complex regulations.
• Five years of building inspections experience; one year supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate day-to-day building plan review and inspection activities.
• Provide information on building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes to contractors and the public.
• Read and interpret construction plans and codes for residential/commercial work.
• Review plans for compliance with city ordinances and building codes.
• Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with codes and zoning regulations.
