Job summary

Divcon, based in Dallas, Texas, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead design, documentation, and implementation of complex building automation systems for commercial and industrial facilities.

You will act as technical authority, mentor junior designers, and ensure designs meet customer expectations, energy efficiency goals, and industry standards while coordinating with mechanical, software, and commissioning teams to stay on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in building automation, MEP design, or industrial controls.
• Experience producing AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical drawings and submittals.
• Experience with control system protocols (BACnet, Modbus).
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA/ASHRAE standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC and BAS control systems, including schematics and panel layouts.
• Translate specs into automation designs aligned with SOO.
• Review BOMs and control device specs for procurement.
• Ensure NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, UL standards compliance.
• Support commissioning and startup with software and installation teams.
• Develop sequences of operations, logic diagrams, and control narratives.
• Engineer system architectures using BACnet, Modbus, and IP networks.
• Design custom control panels and assist in FAT/SAT testing.
• Evaluate new control hardware and energy optimization strategies.
• Collaborate with IT for cybersecurity and connectivity.
