Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services seeks a Budget Analyst V to lead advanced budget preparation and analysis for Medicaid/CHIP services in Austin. You will oversee budget development, monitoring, and reporting, and support senior leadership with financial strategy and staffing decisions.

You will coordinate budgets, perform complex analyses, and ensure alignment with legislative and organizational requirements. Telework eligibility is noted; regular day shift with national scope for collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing legislative appropriation requests.
• Experience preparing LBB/GOBPP operating budgets.
• Experience preparing and analyzing governmental operating budgets.
• Experience with statistical analysis methods and/or budget forecasting practices.
• Experience preparing clear, concise financial reports and schedules.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel/Word software.

Responsibilities

• Attend regular and predictable schedule per agency policy and perform other duties as assigned.
• Assist Budget Manager with development and coordination of organizational budgets and budget negotiations.
• Oversee development and maintenance of program budgets for Medicaid/CHIP Services.
• Prepare and present budget briefings to senior leadership and management.
• Analyze cost trends, prepare management reports, and monitor key performance measures.
