Job summary

Mediacom Communications is seeking a Broadband Specialist IV, Maintenance to perform field technical work maintaining the HFC and distribution system. This role involves testing, configuring trunk levels, installing electronics, and troubleshooting coax and fiber networks to ensure high-quality service for customers.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of cable/ broadband experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong knowledge of RF and HFC systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an Associates degree is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Minimum 6 months as Broadband Specialist III or 5+ years equivalent cable tech experience.
• 18 months tenure as Mediacom BBS III or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of HFC plant, installs and service calls, and commercial fiber PRI.
• Ability to work in high places, handle heavy objects, and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system tests (signal/noise, return loss, RF tests) and troubleshoot HFC plant.
• Set trunk levels, replace trunk amplifiers, and calculate signal losses.
• Install electronics and power connections; maintain power supplies.
• Use test equipment safely and store it properly; perform routine maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair coax and fiber distribution systems.
• Prepare project estimates and materials lists; assist with service installations.
• Climb poles and work at heights; be prepared for on-call duties.
