Job summary

Mediacom Communications is seeking a Broadband Specialist IV, Maintenance to perform field technical work and maintain the HFC plant from node to tap. The position includes routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-call duties to ensure reliable service for customers.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and 5+ years’ cable technician experience or 6 months as Broadband Specialist III. Physical demands include climbing and lifting up to 100 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Minimum 6 months’ time as Broadband Specialist III or 5+ years’ equivalent cable technician experience.
• 18 months tenure as a Mediacom BBS III or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of HFC plant, installs and service calls.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system tests such as signal/noise, signal/hum, and other RF tests.
• Set trunk levels and install/change trunk amplifiers; calculate signal losses.
• Install electronics and maintain power supplies.
• Use and maintain test equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair coaxial and fiber distribution systems.
• Prepare project estimates and material lists.
• Climb poles or ladders and lift up to 100 lbs as needed.
• Perform service installations and adhere to safety guidelines.
