Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a skilled equipment operator for bridge work across the state highway system. You will handle tasks from grading and concrete work to installation of steel sections, using a range of heavy machinery.

Responsibilities include proper traffic control, emergency/inclement weather shifts, and adherence to safety and work-zone guidelines. A CDL is required within six months of placement.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled manual labor and operates equipment for bridge construction, repair and preservation on the state highway system.
• Operates mini excavator, bucket truck, snooper truck, crawler and other heavy machinery.
• Performs traffic control setup and maintenance in work zones; respond to emergencies and severe weather shifts.
