Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. is seeking an experienced independent Bookkeeper to manage a diverse client portfolio with full reconciliations, GL maintenance, payroll, and AP/AR responsibilities.

You will work with minimal supervision and ensure precise ledger activity while upholding firm communication standards. Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping, strong knowledge of internal controls, and proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Google Workspace.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive bookkeeping experience.
• Intermediate to advanced understanding of core bookkeeping principles and internal controls.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and familiar with Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive reconciliations: bank, credit card, and loan statements.
• General Ledger maintenance: journal entries, fixed assets, depreciation.
• Advanced AP/AR operations: vendor payments, AR aging, collections.
• Payroll execution: regular cycles, payroll tax filings.
• Account autonomy: manage multiple client accounts independently.
• Work review: QA of entries and mentoring junior staff.
• Lead specialized accounting projects and historical clean-up as assigned.
