Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the CB Node team. You will own performance optimization, observability, and reliability across the blockchain platform stack, diagnosing root causes and reducing infrastructure spend where possible.

You will define SLOs/SLIs, support protocol upgrades, and collaborate with protocol engineers, wallet teams, and indexers to extend improvements across the full stack while maintaining cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering with focus on performance analysis and optimization of production infrastructure.
• Experience operating distributed systems at scale, diagnosing bottlenecks and tuning performance.
• Proficiency in backend programming (Go preferred) and observability tooling (pprof, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Track record of reducing infrastructure costs through engineering optimization, not just scaling.

Responsibilities

• Own deep performance analysis and optimization across the blockchain node stack.
• Build observability, health-check, and automated failover capabilities for blockchain nodes.
• Drive right-sizing across the node fleet and establish capacity models balancing cost and reliability.
• Collaborate with protocol integration, wallet, and indexer teams to extend improvements across the platform stack.
• Lead definition and implementation of SLOs and SLIs for node services.
• Support protocol upgrades and node operations with a performance-first lens.
