Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the CB Node team within the Platform organization. You will own performance optimization for blockchain nodes, build observability and health-check capabilities, and drive capacity modeling to balance cost and reliability.

You will collaborate with protocol integration engineers and wallet teams to extend improvements across the blockchain platform stack, and help define SLOs/SLIs for node services with a focus on reliability without

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering with deep expertise in systems-level performance analysis and optimization of production infrastructure.
Hands-on experience operating distributed systems at scale, diagnosing bottlenecks, tuning performance, and managing capacity across heterogeneous workloads.
Proficiency in backend programming (Go preferred) and observability tooling (pprof, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).

Responsibilities

Own deep performance analysis and optimization across the blockchain node stack, reducing infrastructure spend while maintaining reliability SLOs.
Build observability, health-check, and automated failover for blockchain nodes to detect degradation proactively.
Lead right-sizing across the node fleet by profiling workloads and establishing capacity models balancing cost and reliability.
Collaborate with protocol integration engineers and wallet/indexer teams to extend performance improvements across the platform stack.
Define and implement SLOs and SLIs for node services to measure reliability without over-provisioning.
