Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an experienced Bid & Proposal Manager to lead the end-to-end bid lifecycle from qualification through award for complex railway projects. Based in Pittsburgh, you will coordinate cross-functional teams, craft winning proposals, and ensure timely delivery while aligning with company policies and budgets.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of bid or proposal management experience in railway, transportation, or related complex systems.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale bids with $50–$150M value.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business; Master’s preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong negotiation skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the bid lifecycle from qualification to contract award.
• Develop bid strategy aligned with Sales targets and company policies for financial items.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define bid strategies, develop technical solutions, and formulate commercial proposals.
• Analyze customer requirements and RFPs to identify key win factors and develop winning strategies.
• Develop bid plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of proposals.
• Coordinate input from contributors to ensure consistent messaging and quality.
• Conduct risk assessments and mitigation plans for bids.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders and customers; participate in negotiations.
• Continuously improve bid processes, tools, and knowledge; mentor junior team members.
