Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer - Systems Integration to own BESS subsystem integration in field environments, ensuring safe, reliable operation.

You will lead end-to-end systems engineering across requirements, ICDs, and integration of energy storage, PCS, safety and controls, while collaborating with multiple OEMs.

Travel up to 25%, mentor junior engineers, support permitting activities, and align with UL 9540/9540A and NFPA standards to improve long-term performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5-7 years of experience in BESS or complex electromechanical system development and integration.
• Familiarity with BESS safety standards and codes (UL 9540/9540A, NFPA, IEC).
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end systems engineering for BESS products from requirements definition through deployment and operation.
• Develop and maintain system-level requirements, ICDs, specifications, and compliance matrices.
• Integrate subsystems including energy storage, PCS, safety, controls, and communications.
• Review and approve BESS electrical and controls designs, including schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and integration docs.
• Interpret and apply BESS safety codes and standards (UL, IEC, NFPA).
• Support prototype builds, certification testing, and production transition with validated plans.
